Become a Team Technical Mentor
The FIRST Robotics Competition is unique in that it encourages students to learn directly from professionals who donate their time to the team. Technical mentors help our team compete at our highest level as we develop skills necessary in the workplace such as creative problem solving, meeting deadlines, budgeting resources, and creating a product best fit to accomplish the specified task.

We have the need for one-time mentors and mentors who are able to give more time throughout the school year or build season. If you have expertise in project management, graphic design, public relations, film/photography/video, engineering, programming, carpentry, metal working, wiring – we could use your help! We are very flexible, so if you have any interest please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students start the school year without knowing what the challenge will be so they start the year working on debugging the robot from the prior year and getting ready for the mini-regional competitions in the fall.
Students find out the new challenge in January and that is when the FIRST Robotics Challenge build season begins. The students have a about 6 weeks to design and build their robot for regional competition in April.
Students meet all year with intense practice sessions during build season after school (usually 3-5 pm). During the 6-week build season we usually meet after school as we usually do, but we also usually meet late (until about 8 pm) on Fridays and all day on Saturdays and school release days.
CAD Mentor Needed
We need an experienced user of Solidworks CAD to bring new users up to speed on simple sketching, extrusions, and assemblies using both designed and commercial part geometry.
This is a commitment of 60-90 minutes per week.
If you’d like to share your knowledge, we’ll work with you on schedule.
